Hi everyone! It's time to start up our recycling project again!!! This year I will be collecting paper towel tubes, crystal light containers, wine corks, old cds, bottle caps, shoe boxes and magazines. Please make sure that all magazine content is appropriate for the school environment. As of now I will not be collecting egg cartons as I have too many of those already. You can also earn 5 extra recycling points by bringing in your journal from last year for reuse. Have fun recycling!!!

The 2013 Leonardo da Vinci Invention Convention
I always tell my students that technology is great for presentations, but ALWAYS have a backup plan in case the technology fails. This year despite the fact that sound was not working on our projector, my 5th and 6th graders really rose to the occasion. They all had fantastic backup plans and their invention ideas were AMAZING! A special thank you goes to Sandy Gersten, Cindy Massey and Tam Riggs for judging the competition. Do you want to know who the winner is? Here is a link to the video http://youtu.be/sV3NAC_Rngg. Enjoy the show and have a great summer!

MHA Students’ Artwork on Display at MJCC
MHA junior high students submitted meaningful and compelling artwork to Memphis Jewish Federation’s fourth annual Holocaust Art Contest. Along with entries from other Memphis schools, the MHA art pieces are currently hanging in the MJCC Art Gallery. Curated by students from Memphis College of Art, the exhibit runs through April 11th. The theme for this year’s contest was “Memory & Legacy: Contemplating the Art of Holocaust Survivor Samuel Bak.” Other schools included in the 41-piece exhibit are BSSS, Lausanne Collegiate School, Margolin Hebrew Academy, St. Agnes Academy and St. Mary’s School.
The art work of Samuel Bak is currently on display at the Temple Israel Museum.
